Cherokee Purple Tomato Plant
Cherokee Purple is the one gardeners ask for first. A favorite among serious home growers and chefs, it produces large, dusky rose-red fruits with greenish shoulders and a complex, wine-like flavor that most red tomatoes can't touch.
It takes 80 days — one of the longer varieties we carry — but if you start it in late February or early March, it's ripe well before Arvada's first fall frost.
- Flavor: Rich, slightly smoky, complex. Low acid. Pairs with everything.
- Size: 8–12 oz fruits
- Best for: Slicing, Caprese, sandwiches, fresh eating
- Colorado note: Start early. Give it full sun and consistent water. Worth every day of the wait.
Cherokee Purple sells out before any other variety. If you want it, pre-order early.
